2012 Yarn Sale and Updated Prices

The sale will begin on Saturday January 21st and will continue until all items have been sold.

If you wish to participate in this sale:

  • E-mail requests should be submitted through bornsideyarns.com (select contact us) beginning 7 pm central time on Friday, January 20th. 
    • List the items you wish to purchase, including the name of the yarn, shade number, quantity, minimum number of skeins you will accept, and whether you will accept mixed dye lots. 
    • Include a phone number where you can be contacted both Saturday and Sunday. 
    • Do not include your credit card information. I will call to confirm your order and method of payment. 
    • E-mail orders received after 8:30 am, Saturday, January 21st will be processed after the phone orders.
  • Phone orders will be accepted on Saturday, January 21st from 9am till noon. Please do not leave a phone message as it will be automatically deleted.
  • The store will be open 1-5 pm Saturday afternoon January 21st. Walk-in customers can purchase sale items, and/or pick-up E-mail or phone orders. The store will reopen on regular schedule Monday, January 23rd at 10 am. Sale items can be picked up during the week. 
  • Out-of-town orders will be shipped during the week. There will be a $5.00 shipping charge on 1-25 skeins; $7.50 on 26-50 skeins; and $10.00 on 50 or more. Extra charges apply for Hawaii and Alaska.

Study the sale list carefully. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. There are no returns or refunds on sale items.

Who we are

Bette Bornside Company was established in 1986 as a retail mail order supplier of medium-priced, quality yarns and accessories to knitters and crocheters.  In 1991, we expanded to include a retail shop at 2733 Dauphine St., New Orleans, LA 70117.

We are located in the Faubourg Marigny, an historic district in New Orleans, adjacent to the French Quarter.  Our neighborhood, which runs along the Mississippi River, was established in 1806, and is a time capsule of 19th century New Orleans.  For several years, Faubourg Marigny has been selected by the National Realtors as one of the best neighborhoods in the U.S. Most of us consider it a bit funky.

The combination of old-time, friendly assistance and an up-to-date computerized inventory, fast turn around on orders and a convenient 1-800 number ensures repeated customer satisfaction.   Bette is eager to serve you.  You can place your order via 1-800-221-YARN (9276) during store hours, or visit our shop.

Store Hours

We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 10 am to 4:00 pm, Wednesday from noon - 6:30 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm Central Time.  Closed Sundays and major holidays.

VISA / Mastercard

In addition to payment by check or money order, we accept VISA and Mastercard charges.  Please do not send cash.

Prompt Service

Our 1-800 toll free number is for your convenience.  Orders received Monday through Friday are usually shipped within 24 hours.  If we cannot fill your order immediately, we will call or write to let you know when shipment can be expected.

Our Guarantee

If you are not satisfied, you may return unopened yarns and items purchased from us within 30 days for a refund.  Sale items, however, are not returnable.

We respect your privacy, and do not sell, rent or share our mailing list.

Unique Services

  • We charge $5.00 for shipping and handling on orders under $50 throughout the United States. WE PAY shipping and handling on orders over $50.  This means on such orders you save from 15 – 25%.  Orders are shipped by US mail - Parcel Post.  If you wish to receive your order by Priority Mail, there will be a $3.00 charge for priority mail.  We add appropriate charges for our international customers.
  • Our reserve-a-skein policy is a unique, personalized service.  On orders of five or more skeins of any one shade, we automatically hold one skein of that dye lot in reserve in your name for six months in case you need to purchase more.
  • We will gladly send free of charge a sample length of any of our yarns for you to test-knit.  We encourage you to take advantage of this offer if you have not knitted a yarn before, or if you are trying to match a color, or you choose a yarn that is variegated.

What we are not

Bette Bornside Company is not a discount or clearance center.  We stock only yarns that can be  reordered.  We hold clearance sales only when wholesalers discontinue yarns in our otherwise stable inventory.
